What you need to know

What is Daylight Saving Time?

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of moving clocks forward by one hour during the warmer months so that evening daylight lasts longer. In the United States, DST runs from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November.

We spring forward in March — losing an hour of sleep for brighter evenings — and fall back in November, gaining an hour as we return to standard time.
